I was looking at other Sony soundbars, but with my new 42'' Sony tv they would have blocked an inch or so of the bottom of the screen, as well as the remote signal, as the stand is quite low. The ht-ct 180 is only 2'' high and sits below the screen, and allows remote signals (albeit bounced off the ceiling) to function. As for sound quality, well pleased, good base for movies, and plays my walkman back great. At 180 watts it is too powerful to play on full volume in my 18ft x 13ft lounge, so would suit most homes. A really good upgrade from the tv speakers, which seem to get weaker these days as tvs get slimmer.

The back of the soundbar has only two keyholes for presumably hanging on a wall. Ours is fitted to a soundbar bracket for fitting to a cantilever TV stand and there are no threaded inserts on the back of the soundbar for secure fitting to a bracket. Only the two keyholes and the correct size screws are not supplied by Sony. We are finding it difficult to get the precise size screws to fit the keyholes. Again, two threaded inserts should also be at the back of the soundbar for those who want to fit the soundbar below the TV on a cantilever stand. Otherwise the sound improvement over the standard TV speakers is better.
