The previous Breville kettle we had lasted more than a decade. It still worked, but over the years the lid got loose, there were cracks, the outer decorative paint peeled. A decade is a long time for something that sees a lot of use every day. This one might last even longer. We went for the glass option, so there is no paint to peel at all. And I took apart the old kettle to see how the lid opening mechanism is screwed together - I could've fixed it if I knew it. This new one seems to have the same one and I'll be able to fix it if the same problem develops in a decade. P.S. It beeps louder than the old one did. Either the beeper accumulated some lint over the years or the new one has a different part. I am still getting used to it being louder. Would be nice if there was a variable resistor to adjust the volume by turning a screw on the bottom.

Nice kettle but the beeps are annoying. Beep when you pick it up, beep when you put it back. Many people suggest a button combination to turn the beeps off, but it doesn’t work for this model.

Great product, good design, feels sturdy, works well. Docked a star for only having the temps in F. Should be in Celsius or at least both.
